Want to try a different kind
of party for Halloween this year?

The principle is very simple and easy on everyone's costume budget.
It only takes a little creativity and imagination.
Everybody comes dressed as their favorite PUN! Here are a few examples:

1. It can be as simple as wearing dark clothing with a single white
straw sticking up from your shirt pocket. What's the pun?
Why, it's "The Last Straw", of course!

2. How about dark clothing with two strips of duct or
reflective tape going up your legs and chest on each side.
In the middle, tape a white plastic fork. What could it be you ask?
It's a "Fork in the Road"!

3. This one comes from the movie, "D.O.A." starring Meg Ryan.
Wear a full underslip and pin a paper sign to it that says "Freud".
Voila! You have a "Freudian Slip".

4. Find a smooth rock suitable for carrying, and paint a big gold star on it.
If you like, wear a punk rocker wig as an added touch.
Carry your prop into the party and you will be a "Rock Star"!

5. Can you stand another one? This one I saw done once and it was hilarious.
A guy wears a dark somber suit and pins a half dozen ladies' frilly panties
in bright colors all over the back of the suit. Stumped?
Why, naturally it's the "Undy Taker"!

6. Wear a black, short, sexy little dress with some inexpensive
gauze wings from the novelty store. Carry a martini glass.
Everyone will know you are a "Bar Fly".

7. Here's one sent in by "Debb" October 5, 2004.
"Here's a pun costume idea for you. I came up with this one several
years ago while cleaning the house: Dress up in a bunny costume
(sweats with rabbit ears and bunny tail work fine as well)
Wrap some 'spider web' stuff all around and cover yourself with
corn-starch. Leave your mark by hugging everyone in the party."
You're a DUST BUNNY!

8. This great pun costume was sent in by "V" Oct. 27, 2004.
"Last year... I took a white sweat shirt, tacked on the letter P from
sparkly felt, took some black makeup and 'blackened' one eye."
What else, but a BLACK-EYED P !

9. Here's a fun pun sent in October 7, 2006
by Miranda of ALberta, Canada.
"One year my husband wore all black and I attached small baby chicks
(made of pom poms and felt) all over him and he was a Chick Magnet."

10. Two new pun costume additions were
contributed October 9, 2006 by Cindy in Missouri.
"I made an apple costume, did some "tribal" style tattoos, a skull
and cross bones bracelet and black fishnets….. "bad" apple.

My husband dressed as a bat…an old batman costume with the batman
logos removed works great. We borrowed the customer bell for service
from a local retailer……voila! a Ding Bat."

11. Amy in NH sent in these three great puns October 28, 2006. Thanks Amy!
"Pun costumes are my favorites, since they're easy and inexpensive
to put together. Here are a few I've used:

a. Wear a pair of sunglasses, or better yet those silly glasses with
a big nose. Pin a paper sign to your shirt which reads "Bless You!"
Voila! A Blessing in Disguise.

b. Borrow a pair of kitty ears and a tail from a friend with small
children, and draw on eyeliner whiskers and a little triangle nose.
Cover yourself with little paper "Xerox" signs. A Copy Cat!

c. Buy a bright orange jack-o-lantern shirt (with the face on the
front). Cut out a felt pi symbol (you know, the one you use for the
circumference of a circle) and pin it to the back of your shirt, and
you're a pumpkin pi."

Got the Idea? Send out your invitations early with a few examples to
get your friends' creativity jump-started. You might offer an inexpensive
gag gift for the guest who correctly identifies the most puns,
and perhaps a small prize for the one voted best "pundit" of the evening.

If you have some fun puns to contribute, send them in to me and
I'll add them to the list giving you credit. And don't forget
to send in pictures of your pun party for the Rogues Gallery!
