Halloween '99

Another fun year! This year we stayed home for the first time in many years, and made it a memorable evening for the neighborhood kids! With a darkened house, jack-o-lanterns on the porch, and an open door with eerie music wafting out into the night air, the children approached warily.

A collection of carved jack-o-lanterns first greeted the trick or treaters.

As they approached the door they were beckoned inside by a strange and wizened old troll with a flowing beard who sat silently in the entry. He held his gnarled staff with one hand and slowly waved them in with the other.

For those who stepped inside, a dark and frightening figure appeared suddenly from the hallway, scythe in hand. It was the *gasp* Death Moon! You should have heard the screeches! A few bolted and ran!

All in good fun though. Candy was dispensed by the Troll and the Death Moon and a good time was had by all. On more than one occasion the masks came off to keep a little one from tears. Moms and Dads took pictures and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Our little black cat, "Hook", sat in the upstairs window and added to the atmosphere as he watched the strange antics of the night.
