Halloween 2003
2003 featured The Bone Yard, our first attempt at a Yard Haunt.
The front yard was turned into a graveyard and featured more than
a dozen tombstones, homemade coffin, fog machine, blue spotlights,
jack o'lanterns, and various body parts
scattered about. Four of
us dressed in scary costumes, stationing ourselves around the yard,
standing very still until the unsuspecting trick or treaters came close.
I dressed as a zombie, tattered and torn, stringy hair, bones showing,
and hid behind the farthest gravestone until just the "right" moment.
Ahhhhhh...the screams....music to my ear.
In the weeks leading up to the big night, we learned to make our own
tombstones, using commercial 1/4" styrofoam insulation, black and gray
latex paint, a Dremel tool for recessed lettering, and a water aging
technique. It turned out to be easier than we thought, and lots more fun!
Take a look at some of the results.
