
October 2001
This Halloween was a little bit different for us. Instead of
the traditional parties and dress-up in spooky or funny costumes,
we spent the end of October on Grand Cayman in the Caribbean,
taking part in the annual "Pirates Week Festival". People come from
far and near to dress the part, watch the pirate ship landing in the
bay, enjoy the fireworks, music, food and drink, and in-between enjoy
the clear, blue-green waters and world-class scuba/snorkeling for
which these islands are so famous.
I worked on suitable pirate costumes all Summer and took a suitcase
full of wigs, props and gear for the festival! We met some kindred
spirits along the way and a grand time was had by all!
One group of pirates who travel every year from Washington state to
participate, is the fraternal group, "The Seattle Seafair Pirates".
